Timber OX™ Green Application Instructions

Directions for Use
It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Product can be applied by roller, brush or airless sprayer (Not Garden Sprayer)
For Exterior and interior, Above Ground use only.
The preparation process should be followed to ensure adequate penetration, coloration and optimum performance of this product.
NOTE: All wood requires proper surface preparation. Dirt and stains in or on wood will be permanently sealed into the wood if not removed.

  1. You must completely remove any and all previous coatings, sealers, paints, stains, preservatives, etc. before applying Timber OX Green. The wood surface must be completely cleaned before applying Timber OX Green.
  2. Timber OX Green penetrates into the wood. To be sure there is nothing to prevent Timber OX Green from penetrating, test the wood by sprinkling water on the wood surface. If all of the water is absorbed into the wood, you are ready to apply Timber OX Green (after wood has dried for at least 48 hours).
NOTE: A paint/stain stripper and/or sanding may be required to remove any other pre-existing coating, sealers, paints, stains, preservatives, etc.
  3. If Timber OX Green is applied over another coating, sealer, paint stain, preservative, etc., the wood surface may become tacky, blotchy or discolored.

BEFORE COATING
Perform a trial brush-out in several inconspicuous areas to ensure the desired color and appearance. Replace rotted, extremely weathered or warped, split or damaged wood. This product will not repair existing wood damage such as cracking, checking, splintering, splitting; Make sure entire surface is completely dry and free of dust, dirt and debris. Cover all surrounding areas not intended to be coated. Intermix multiple gallons of the same product in a separate container to ensure a uniform color. Mix thoroughly before use and stir occasionally during application. Do not tint, dilute or mix this product with any other product. Do not spray in windy/breezy conditions.

APPLICATION
Apply product above 60°F, and when no precipitation is expected for 24 hours. To prevent premature evaporation do not apply to wood that is hot to the touch or in direct sunlight. Apply with a natural or synthetic bristle staining brush, stain/paint pad, HVLP or airless sprayer, or dip (3 minutes). When spraying, work on a 30-40 square foot area at a time, making sure to back brush along the grain any drips, runs, uneven coverage or surface puddles. Do not oversaturate surface with product or allow to puddle to prevent shiners, tackiness, excessive drying time or uneven appearance when dry.

Horizontal Surfaces
APPLY ONE (1) LIBERAL, UNIFORM COAT ON DECKS AND OTHER HORIZONTAL SURFACES. Thoroughly coat all exposed surfaces until wood will not absorb additional product. Avoid puddling. A second coat is only recommended is wood is extremely porous. Check the penetration rate of the first 30 sq. ft. area coated. If the coating is dry to the touch in 15 minutes or less, a second light coat may be applied no later than one hour after the first coat. Only half the amount is necessary for the second coat.

Vertical Surfaces
APPLY TWO (2) WET-ON-WET COATS ON SHAKE, SHINGLE OR LAP SIDING, ROOFING, FENCES AND OTHER VERTICAL SURFACES. Do not allow product to dry fully between coats. Apply second coat within 6 hours of the first coat. This product must penetrate the surface to work properly -- do not apply over a sealed surface. Do not use as a primer coat. Clean up over-spray, drips or splashes with soap and water immediately.

Interior Surfaces
When using on an interior surface insure there is adequate ventilation. Follow directions for Horizontal and Vertical Surfaces as listed above.

DRY TIME
Allow a minimum 24-48 hours before using deck or sitting on outdoor furniture. Wait 72 hours to reposition furniture on deck.
COVERAGE: Divide total square footage to be coated by 150. One gallon will cover approximately 150-200 square feet, depending on wood species, age, surface porosity and method of application. Rough, weathered or highly porous surfaces will absorb more product and reduce coverage rate.

CLEAN UP
Use mineral spirits for clean up

MAINTENANCE
Annual cleaning with mild soap and water is recommended.
